Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
PACN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that educates regarding pregnancy and sexual health issues. Open since 1987, it is the only center of its kind in Montgomery County providing entirely free services to thousands of women and men each year. PACN believes women and men deserve access to unbiased, client-centered care that is relevant, compassionate and accurate, particularly when facing an unplanned pregnancy or sexual health concern.
What is your primary product or service?
Medical services include pregnancy testing, ultrasound services, prenatal education/counseling and sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea and HIV.
Educational classes and support groups are open to the community and are offered several times each year. Classes include Childbirth & Newborn Care and Healthy Relationship Skills for Couples. Beauty for Ashes is a support group for women and men who have been sexually abused, and the Confidential Abortion Recovery & Education (CARE) program helps participants identify and confront post-abortion symptoms in a healing, compassionate environment.
Material assistance including maternity and baby clothing, baby food, formula, diapers, toiletries and baby equipment is available to clients through the child’s first year.
Vouch for Success is a self-paced educational program where clients can earn credits to redeem for new baby clothes, baby furniture and other items like strollers, high chairs and cribs. Clients participating in the program are eligible to receive baby food, formula, diapers and toiletries once per month through the child’s first year.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
PACN was created to help women and men facing unplanned or crisis pregnancies. It primarily serves the Montgomery and North Harris County regions and all services are confidential and free.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
All of our services are free. Clients facing an unplanned pregnancy meet with specially-trained peer counselors who can provide information about all of their options – parenting, adoption and abortion. PACN connects women and men with community resources for medical care, housing and other kinds of assistance that may be helpful during and after pregnancy. Clients also have the opportunity to meet with a professional counselor.
Additionally, PACN provides STD testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea, as well as HIV, through its medical services program.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
PACN has two locations – 115 N. San Jacinto in Conroe, which is down the street from the Montgomery County Courthouse in downtown Conroe. PACN also has a location at 26402 I-45 N in Spring, on the I-45 feeder road just north of Rayford/Sawdust. Our Woodlands/Spring Center is currently for sale. We are looking to expand and remain in the same general area.
Provide detailed directions to your location

What type of payments do you accept?
All of PACN’s services are free and confidential. While walk-ins are accepted, it’s best to make an appointment to ensure prompt service.
Which areas do you service?
Most of PACN’s clients are from Montgomery and North Harris Counties; however, we will see anyone requesting services.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
PACN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is supported by local businesses, churches and individuals, as well as through grants and fundraising efforts. PACN does not accept government funding.
Center directors oversee day-to-day operations at each location, and PACN’s executive director works with the board of directors on decisions affecting both centers.

What is the best compliment anyone can give you?

What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Psalm 139: 13-18
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand —
when I awake, I am still with you.
